The MSDS Residential program runs June–May, with one annual application cycle. We offer two application options: Priority Decision and Regular Decision. The Priority Decision is for those wishing to be considered for early admission and need-based financial aid. Priority Decision applicants will receive an admission decision on Mar. 8. Applications received after January 6 will be considered in the Regular Decision round and receive an admission decision by Apr. 5. The application for the 2023-2024 cohort has closed, although we invite you to apply to the next cohort.
The application for the upcoming MSDS Residential program (June 2024–May 2025) will open on Aug. 15, 2023.

The priority deadline is for those wishing to be considered for early admission and financial aid. Applications received after Jan. 8 will be considered on a space-available basis with rolling decisions through the final deadline Mar. 22.
FAFSA Deadline

This deadline is the final date to submit a FAFSA for those wishing to be considered for need-based financial aid in their admission offer letter. Applicants may submit a FAFSA after this date, and funding may be offered if available. Please notify the admissions team (sdsadmissions@virginia.edu) if you submit a FAFSA after the Priority Decision deadline. Please refer to the Tuition and Fees page for more information.

Program Duration
The 2024-2025 cohort will begin classes in late June 2024 and graduate in May 2025. Please note that there is a mandatory program and technical orientation preceding the start of classes.
