A summer data challenge for high school students
The purpose of this competition is to engage area high school students in data science. Our intention is to raise awareness and interest in pursuing data science as a course of study and a career path. For this project, the school of data science is partnering with the Academic Data Science Alliance (ADSA), and PredictioNN.
Theme: applying data science to solve societal problems
Students will be using the same dataset related to Fair Lending (provided by PredictioNN) and using data science methods across the 4 domains and utilizing instructional material provided by PredictioNN.
Geographic Footprint: the competition will be open to 9th through 12th grade students enrolled in public or private schools within the SDS/UVA regional footprint. Including:
