Bruce Corliss is a Research Associate at the School of Data Science. He completed his PH.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2020. His research focuses on vascular biology, biostatistics, image analysis, and image quantification. His PH.D. dissertation was titled, “Pericyte Bridges in Homeostasis and Hyperglycemia: Reconsidering Pericyte Dropout and Microvascular Structures.”
Prior to coming to UVA for his PH.D., Corliss developed automation software at Duke University for confocal laser scanning microscopes made by Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC. He also worked as a scientist at Grassroots Biotechnology, where he designed a semi-automated gene expression analysis pipeline for the RootArray platform, a microfluidic device that allows large sample size growth of plants in controlled environmental conditions. Corliss worked as a Design Engineer at and Engineering Consultant Dartmouth College before working at Grassroots Biotechnology.
In addition to his PH.D. in Biomedical Engineering from UVA, Corliss also earned his B.E. in Biomedical Engineering and B.A. in Engineering from Dartmouth College.
