Work Crew BBQ Celebrates Those Building the “School Without Walls”

The new home of the School of Data Science is set to open in one year with a target move-in date of April 2024. Progress on the building has been steady as well as on budget and time. To thank the men and women building the School's new home, administration threw a Work Crew BBQ and invited the entire data science and construction communities to join. More than 100 people attended.

Held on Thursday, May 4, crews from both sides took a break for lunch and enjoyed hamburger and chicken sliders, salads, and festive tunes. The School held a raffle for the work crew and Dean Bourne awarded gift cards to local businesses and restaurants while data science faculty and staff signed up for walking tours of their new building.

"We couldn't be more grateful. It has been an incredible journey to date watching the our new home take shape," said Bourne in his welcome remarks. "Thank you for helping it become a reality."
