Datapalooza at UVA: A Pivotal Experience Shaping My Data Science Journey
The University Of Virginia School of Data Science's flagship event, Datapalooza, was inspirational. Here’s why.
There was a talk on “How AI Became A Thing” with Capital One’s Miriam Friedel and New York Life’s Don Vu. Despite the intense global focus on AI, the panelists inspired me to dive deeper into the implications AI has on the government and the impact on on our future. This exploration will be particularly helpful when my work begins to impact many others.
I also enjoyed the LMI-UVA Data Entrepreneurship Challenge Launch. Since Datapalooza, I’ve formed a team with members from my B.S. in Data Science cohort and am thrilled to compete against brilliant data scientists. This year's theme is "Advancing Progress toward Social Justice Solutions."
The panel on Charting Your Course in a Data-Driven World was very informative. I've been in awe of how people from various fields connect with one another through their passion for data science. This panel took it a step further by reaffirming my belief that data science isn't just connecting fields—it's about shaping the future of processes across industries.
I am incredibly grateful to the UVA School of Data Science for putting this event together. These highlights and more from Datapalooza have profoundly shaped the trajectory of my career, equipping me with the tools to grow as a thoughtful data scientist. I can’t wait to attend next year!
